Privacy policy
Last updated 27 September 2026. Applies to the ShotPDF Chrome extension, version 1.1.0 and later, and to this website.
The short version
ShotPDF turns the web page you are looking at into an image or PDF. That work happens entirely inside your browser. ShotPDF does not upload, sell or share your captures or any other data, because it has no servers to send them to.
What ShotPDF handles
Website content you choose to capture
When you start a capture, ShotPDF takes images of the page in the current tab and reads its title and web address to name the file. These images are stitched, edited and exported in your browser's memory. They are saved only when you download or copy them, and only to the place you choose.
Your settings
Preferences such as file format, quality, PDF page size, file name options, and a count of completed downloads (used to show a one-time rating link) are stored with Chrome's local storage on your device. They are not synced or sent anywhere.
What ShotPDF does not do
- It does not upload captures, page content or browsing history.
- It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, cookies or advertising.
- It does not require an account, email address or payment.
- It does not sell or transfer data to third parties, and does not use data for creditworthiness or lending.
- It does not load remote code. All code ships inside the extension package.
Permissions and why they are needed
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Access to the tab you are on, only after you click the icon, press a shortcut or use the right-click menu. |
| scripting | Measures and scrolls the page for full page capture, keeps sticky headers from repeating, and shows the area selection overlay. |
| downloads | Saves the finished image or PDF to your Downloads folder. |
| storage | Remembers your settings on your device. |
| contextMenus | Adds capture options to the right-click menu. |
This website
This site is a static page hosted on GitHub Pages. It uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts, and its fonts are served from this site. GitHub may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to operate and secure its service. See GitHub's privacy statement.
Deleting your data
Because nothing is stored outside your device, there is nothing for us to delete. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes its settings. Files you downloaded stay in your Downloads folder until you delete them.
Children
ShotPDF does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
