How can we help?

1. Reload the WhatsApp Web tab (Ctrl+R, or Cmd+R on Mac).
2. Click the ChatVeil icon and check the top switch is on. If the toolbar icon shows OFF, press Alt+X.
3. Make sure you're on web.whatsapp.com. ChatVeil doesn't work in the WhatsApp desktop or phone apps.
4. On chrome://extensions, check ChatVeil is enabled, and if you see "Site access", that it's allowed on web.whatsapp.com.

WhatsApp sometimes changes how its page is built, which can stop one item (for example names or search) from blurring. Everything else keeps working. Please email us which item stopped, and we'll ship an update. Chrome installs updates automatically.

For your privacy, the PIN can't be recovered: we never see it, and it's stored only as a one-way hash on your computer. To reset it:

1. Open chrome://extensions and click Remove on ChatVeil.
2. Install it again from the Chrome Web Store.

This resets all ChatVeil settings. Your WhatsApp chats are not affected.

Another extension or app may be using the same keys. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find ChatVeil, and choose new keys for on/off, Emergency Hide and Lock. For the hold-to-peek key, open the ChatVeil popup, go to Reveal and pick F2, F3 or F4.

You're probably in Screen share mode, or Screen-share lock is on. Both turn hover off on purpose. Switch to another mode in the popup, or hold F2 to peek. Also check Reveal → Reveal with: in Click mode, you click once to reveal.

Emergency Hide or Auto privacy is active. Press Alt+Shift+X to restore, or click back into the WhatsApp window. If a Smart schedule is set, ChatVeil switches mode automatically during those hours. You can change this in the popup's Auto tab.

Right-click the ChatVeil icon in the Chrome toolbar and choose Remove from Chrome, or remove it on chrome://extensions. All ChatVeil settings are deleted. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
