How can we help?

Set up your phone in about 2 minutes, or find a fix below. Most problems are solved by turning on USB debugging or trying another cable.

Set up your phone (one time)

Phone Screen Mirror to PC needs USB debugging turned on. It's a built-in Android setting. It's safe, and you can turn it off at any time. Pick your phone brand:

Samsung

  1. Open Settings › About phone › Software information and tap Build number 7 times. Enter your PIN if asked.
  2. Go back to Settings › Developer options. It's at the very bottom of Settings.
  3. Turn on USB debugging and tap OK.

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO

  1. Open Settings › About phone and tap OS version (or MIUI version) 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › Additional settings › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.
  4. Also turn on USB debugging (Security settings). Without it you can see the phone but not control it with the mouse. Xiaomi may ask you to sign in to a Mi account first.

Google Pixel

  1. Open Settings › About phone and tap Build number 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › System › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.

OnePlus, Oppo and Realme

  1. Open Settings › About device › Version and tap Build number 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › Additional settings › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.
  4. If mouse control doesn't work later, also turn on Disable permission monitoring in Developer options.

Vivo and iQOO

  1. Open Settings › About phone › Software version and tap Software version 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › System management › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.

Huawei and Honor

  1. Open Settings › About phone and tap Build number 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › System & updates › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.

Other Android phones

  1. Open Settings › About phone and tap Build number 7 times.
  2. Open Settings › System › Developer options.
  3. Turn on USB debugging.

Can't find it? Search Settings for "Build number", then "USB debugging".

Then connect

  1. Plug the phone into your PC with a USB data cable. If the phone asks "Use USB for", choose File transfer.
  2. Click the Phone Screen Mirror to PC icon in Chrome's toolbar. A small phone window opens.
  3. Click Connect phone and choose your phone in Chrome's list.
  4. On the phone, tick Always allow from this computer and tap Allow.

Next time, just plug in. A phone you allowed before connects by itself.

Fix a problem

My phone isn't in the list ("No compatible devices found")

Chrome only lists phones with USB debugging on. Check these in order:

  1. USB debugging is on (see setup).
  2. Unplug and plug the cable back in. If the phone asks "Use USB for", choose File transfer.
  3. Try another cable or USB port. Many cables only charge.
  4. Unlock the phone screen while connecting.
It says another program is using the phone

Only one program can use USB debugging at a time. Close Android Studio, adb, or any other phone mirroring or phone manager program. Then unplug, plug in again and click Connect.

The "Allow USB debugging?" message doesn't appear on the phone
  1. Unlock the phone and keep the screen on.
  2. In Developer options tap Revoke USB debugging authorizations, then unplug and plug in again.
  3. Click Connect phone again.
Windows doesn't see my phone

Some Windows PCs need the phone maker's USB driver. Install it from your phone maker's support website (search for your brand name and "USB driver"), restart Chrome and try again.

I can see the screen but can't control it

Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO: turn on USB debugging (Security settings). OnePlus, Oppo and Realme: turn on Disable permission monitoring. Both are in Developer options. Then reconnect.

Control is also paused while the view is rotated. Rotate it back to control the phone.

The screen is black in some apps

Some apps, such as banking and video streaming apps, block screen capture on purpose. They show black while everything else mirrors normally. This is set by those apps and can't be changed.

There's no sound
  1. Phone sound needs Android 11 or newer.
  2. Check that Sound isn't muted on the toolbar, and that Settings › Sound is set to Phone sound.
  3. Click once on the phone picture. Chrome sometimes waits for a click before playing sound.
  4. Some apps block their sound from being captured.
The picture is slow or stutters

Open Settings (gear icon) and choose 720p or 30 fps. Use a USB port directly on the computer instead of a hub, and close other heavy programs.

It disconnects by itself

A loose or worn cable is the usual cause. Try another cable and port. Also check that the phone doesn't switch to "Charging only" when the screen turns off.

Using the extension

Go live on TikTok or YouTube

  1. Click Expand, then in Go Live pick TikTok 9:16 or YouTube 16:9, a background and your overlay text.
  2. Click Open Stream Mode. Keep that window visible, not minimised. It can sit on a second screen.
  3. In OBS Studio or TikTok LIVE Studio add a Window Capture source and pick Phone Mirror Stream Mode.
  4. For sound, add Application Audio Capture and pick Chrome.
  5. Using green screen? Add a Chroma Key filter to the source. Then press Go Live.
