The short version
- Your notes, reminders and settings are stored only on your own device, inside your Chrome browser.
- We do not collect, receive, sell or share any personal data. The extension makes no network requests to any server.
- No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data from your browser.
1. Who we are
This policy covers the Quick Notes & Reminders – Sticky Notes & Notepad browser extension (Chrome Web Store ID lfieknblbafjpkmjfngfjniblaiclhfa) and this website. It is developed and maintained by an independent developer ("we", "us"). Contact: saqibsohaib48@gmail.com.
2. Information the extension stores on your device
To work, the extension saves the following locally using Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device, and we cannot see it.
- Notes you create: title, text, checklist items, #tags, color, pin/archive/done status, and creation and edit times.
- Reminders: the date, time and repeat setting you choose.
- Page links you choose to save: if you tick "Attach this page's link", use "Save this page to Quick Notes", or use "Remind me about this tomorrow", the page's web address (URL) and title are saved with that note.
- Text you select and choose to save with the right-click "Save to Quick Notes" menu.
- Settings: theme, accent color, floating-button position, notification and sound preferences, sort order, and an unsaved draft so you don't lose a note if the popup closes.
3. Information we collect
None. The extension has no servers, no backend, no database, no analytics and no third-party SDKs. It does not transmit your notes, browsing history, page content, IP address or any identifier to us or to anyone else.
4. Web pages you visit
The extension runs a small content script on http and https pages only to show the optional floating quick-note button and panel. It does not read, scan, record or transmit the content of the pages you visit. The only page information it ever touches is:
- text you type into the quick-note panel;
- text you select and choose to save;
- the page URL and title, only when you choose to save them (see section 2).
You can turn off the floating button any time in Settings → Floating button.
5. Permissions and why they're needed
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
storage | Save your notes, reminders and settings locally on your device. |
alarms | Trigger each reminder at the time you choose, and refresh the toolbar badge. |
notifications | Show a reminder notification with Done and Snooze buttons. |
contextMenus | Add the right-click "Save to Quick Notes" and "Remind me" menu items. |
offscreen | Play the bundled reminder chime (extension background workers can't play audio directly). |
| Content script on http/https pages | Show the floating quick-note button. See section 4. |
6. Sharing and selling of data
We do not sell, rent, trade or share any user data, because we don't collect any. No data is used for advertising, credit scoring, profiling or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose of helping you write notes and reminders.
The use of information by this extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Links that open other websites
Some buttons, such as "Rate on Chrome Web Store" or a page link you saved in a note, open another website in a new tab. That site's own privacy policy applies. The extension does not send any of your data when it opens them.
8. Your control over your data
- Export: Settings → Your data → JSON or Markdown.
- Import: Settings → Your data → Import (JSON).
- Delete a note: the trash icon on any note.
- Delete everything: Settings → Your data → Delete all, or uninstall the extension. Chrome removes all of the extension's stored data on uninstall.
Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot recover deleted notes. Please export a backup if your notes matter to you.
9. Data security
Your data is protected by your browser and operating system's security, just like your other Chrome data. Anyone with access to your computer and Chrome profile could see your notes, so avoid storing passwords or highly sensitive information in them.
10. Children's privacy
The extension is a general-purpose productivity tool. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
11. This website
This website is a static page hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts on it. GitHub, as the host, may process technical data such as your IP address in its server logs for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
12. International users
Since your data stays on your device and is never transferred to us, no cross-border data transfer takes place. This approach is designed to be consistent with privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA/CPRA (California).
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how the extension handles data, we'll update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If a future version ever needed to collect data, we would explain it here first and ask for your consent in the extension.
