How to set a reminder in Chrome

  3. Tap the bell and pick In 1 hour, Tonight, Tomorrow or Next week.

Troubleshooting

Why don't I see reminder notifications?
  • In Quick Notes Settings โ†’ Reminders, make sure Notifications is on.
  • Windows: Settings โ†’ System โ†’ Notifications โ†’ turn on notifications for Google Chrome, and turn off Do Not Disturb / Focus.
  • macOS: System Settings โ†’ Notifications โ†’ Google Chrome โ†’ Allow notifications (Alerts style recommended).
  • ChromeOS: click the clock โ†’ make sure Do Not Disturb is off.
  • Chrome must be running. Missed reminders appear in the popup the next time you open it.
Why is my reminder late?

Reminders fire while Chrome is running and the computer is awake. If the computer was asleep or Chrome was closed, the reminder is shown as overdue the next time Chrome starts and you open Quick Notes. Tip: in Chrome settings โ†’ System, turn on "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed".

No sound when a reminder fires

Check Settings โ†’ Reminders โ†’ Reminder sound and press โ–ถ Test. Make sure your system volume is up and Chrome isn't muted in your system's volume mixer.

The floating note button doesn't appear on some pages

Chrome doesn't allow extensions on its own pages (chrome://), the Chrome Web Store, the new-tab page, or local files. Also check Settings โ†’ Floating button โ†’ Show on web pages, and reload tabs that were open before you installed or updated the extension.

The floating button covers something on a website

Drag it up or down to a new spot (the position is remembered), set the position in Settings, or hide it and use Ctrl+Shift+M instead.

How do I back up or move my notes to another computer?

Open Settings โ†’ Your data โ†’ JSON to download a backup file. On the other computer install Quick Notes and use Settings โ†’ Your data โ†’ Import. Existing notes are never overwritten. Use Markdown export for a readable copy.

Can you recover my deleted notes?

Right after deleting, click Undo in the popup. After that, notes can't be recovered because they're stored only on your device and we have no copy. Export regular backups to be safe.

I lost my notes after reinstalling or clearing browser data

Uninstalling the extension (or removing extension data) deletes its local storage. Restore from a JSON backup via Settings โ†’ Import. Clearing normal browsing history and cookies does not delete extension notes.

How do I change the keyboard shortcuts?

Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find Quick Notes & Reminders and set new shortcuts for Open Quick Notes and Quick note on the current page. (Ctrl+Shift+N is reserved by Chrome for Incognito.)

Does it work in Edge, Brave or Opera?

Most Chromium-based browsers can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store (Edge: allow extensions from other stores; Brave and Opera support it). Features may vary slightly; Chrome is the officially supported browser.
